One Person Killed, One Injured April 8th in Head-On Collision East of Downtown Las Vegas
A head-on collision occurred Wednesday, April 8th, east of downtown Las Vegas, 3 News reported. The crash happened shortly after 8 PM on Eastern Avenue, south of Sunrise Avenue, and involved a 2001 Audi TT, and a red 2016 Toyota RAV4. According to police, the Audi was heading north on Eastern and the Rav4 was heading south. Police believe the Audi crossed over the median into southbound lanes, causing the Toyota to crash into the passenger side of the Audi.
The 24-year-old driver of the Audi was taken to a hospital where he unfortunately died from his injuries. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash, and said that driver impairment and excessive speed were possible contributing factors. Our thoughts go out to all involved in this devastating incident.
Las Vegas Accidents During Coronavirus Pandemic
Accidents, as well as accident-related injuries and accident-related deaths have decreased nationwide during nationwide stay-at-home orders and quarantine due to Coronavirus. There are far fewer drivers on the ride, and the decrease in accidents is a silver lining in the difficult time.
However, open roads also mean an increase in speeding drivers. Open roads combined with people feeling “cooped up” dealing with frustrating personal situations such as income losses and job furloughs is leading to an increase in road rage and speed-related crashes.
Note: If you are involved in an accident, do not delay in seeking medical attention. This is important both for your personal well-being and your medical record. A record of your treatment and diagnostic testing is an important part of your personal injury claim down the line. Without evidence of seeking medical treatment, the insurance company may dispute the seriousness of your injuries.
