Causes of Nevada Pedestrian Accidents
The cause of this crash remains under investigation and it is unclear exactly what happened in this case. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is conducting an investigation and will determine how this crash occurred. Major injury and fatal pedestrian accidents continue to be a major problem in Las Vegas, and have been for many years.
Slower-moving older adults are especially vulnerable to being struck, and have no protection from major or fatal injury. Some of the causes of pedestrian accidents we see in Las Vegas are:
- Diverting attention away from road (driver distraction)
- Driving too fast for conditions / speeding
- Failing to yield or give way
- Driving under the influence of alcohol / drugs
- Dangerous left-hand turn.
Drivers have a responsibility to look for pedestrians and yield to them. Despite awareness campaigns by Las Vegas, these tragedies are still occurring, and many of them are completely avoidable. If it is determined that the driver caused or contributed to the accident and the man’s resulting death, the driver could be liable in a civil claim for wrongful death.
Whent to Speak to a Las Vegas Wrongful Death Lawyer
If a family member has been involved in a fatal crash in Las Vegas, it is a good idea to speak with an attorney about your legal rights in a wrongful death claim. A lawyer can review your case and help you determine if you’re entitled to compensation for the loss of your loved one. If necessary, an independent investigation into the cause of the crash can be arranged. Although no amount of money can ever bring back a loved one, or undue the grief of heartbreaking loss, financial compensation can ease the financial burden of funeral and burial costs, and loss of financial support.
