Man Commits Suicide with AR-15 in Las Vegas Casino Bathroom
The Vegas community is dismayed to report a recent tragedy that happened inside of a casino restroom in late January. According to reports, a 40-year-old man was discovered deceased in the bathroom of a Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on January 21. He was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and reportedly had a goodbye note with him.
While that alone is tragic, the situation was made even worse when reports started to emerge that the victim was seen displaying odd behaviors prior to the incident.
Somehow, the man was able to bring an AR-15 rifle into the bathroom, but even before that, he was reportedly attempting to open random doors in the hotel. He was also seen walking around in circles in the parking lot.
Hotel Liability: Important Considerations
Is it possible that the victim’s untimely death could have been prevented if hotel staff noticed the odd behaviors ahead of time and confronted him? Would the person’s life be saved if the hotel security had spotted the firearm before the shooting?
These questions are important to answer because they could impact whether or not the hotel could be held partially liable for the wrongful death suicide. Surviving relatives of the victim will likely endure numerous losses as a result of this accident. From a loss of financial support to burial costs, they may decide to seek out some compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit against the hotel.
Considering that proving liability is very challenging in these types of situations, it’s always advised that you speak with an attorney if you believe a loved one lost their life as a result of someone else’s negligence, recklessness, or disregard for safety.
How to Cope with Losses After a Tragedy
Have you ever lost a loved one or suffered other financial losses as the result of someone else’s negligence? If so, then it might be in your best interests to consider who might be legally liable for what happened. If another party held a legal duty to provide for that person’s care, then you might have the basis to seek out a claim for compensation.
This compensation can help you pay for burial costs, a loss of financial support, and more. If you’re in the Las Vegas area and you’re considering seeking out this type of claim, then we invite you to leave your contact information on our online form to schedule a consultation with our team.
