Las Vegas Woman Fatally Killed July 9th in Northeast Valley Pedestrian Accident
The Las Vegas Sun reported that a 35-year-old Las Vegas woman tragically died Thursday, July 9th when she was hit by an SUV while crossing the street.
The fatal accident, which was the 48th traffic-related fatality in the Metro Police’s jurisdiction this year, occurred at Lamb and Tonopah Avenue at 10:20 PM.
The woman was taken to University Medical Center where she died of her injuries. According to the news report, the driver, a 29-year-old North Las Vegas woman, was not suspected of being impaired and remained at the scene. It is unclear exactly what happened based on the information provided, if the driver was responsible for the collision or if it could have been avoided. Our thoughts go out to the family of the victim of this tragic crash. Losing a loved one suddenly and unexpectedly is heartbreaking and devastating.
Why Do So Many Pedestrian Accidents Occur in Las Vegas
As we have seen in so many accidents, pedestrians are extremely vulnerable to serious injury or death when being struck by a vehicle. They are perhaps the most vulnerable parties on the road, without helmets or protective clothing, even more vulnerable than a cyclist or motorcycle operator. With no protection, a pedestrian can easily suffer a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or blunt force injury that may be fatal.
At LV Personal Injury Lawyers, we have seen over and over, firsthand, how dangerous Las Vegas is for pedestrians. Especially at night when visibility is reduced, pedestrians may be difficult to see. This does not excuse drivers from exercising extreme caution and doing everything possible to avoid a collision. Drivers must watch for pedestrians at all times.
Getting Legal Help After a Pedestrian Accident
If you’ve been injured, you may have legal rights. Determining liability for a pedestrian accident can be complicated, and will require a thorough review of the accident. If you or a loved one was involved in a Las Vegas pedestrian accident, we are here to help you understand your legal rights and determine if you are entitled to financial compensation for lost earnings, medical expenses, pain and suffering, or the wrongful death of a loved one.
What Does it Cost to Hire An Attorney?
Personal injury attorneys handle cases on a contingency agreement, being paid for their services only when money is recovered in a settlement (or verdict, if the case goes to trial). This allows anyone to hire a lawyer for an injury or wrongful death, without paying a retainer, or coming up with cash upfront or out-of-pocket fees. A contingency arrangement levels the playing field and makes it possible for people facing financial hardship to hire an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer, without paying money up front.
At LV Personal Injury Lawyers, we offer a free consultation seven days a week to discuss your case. Call us at (702) 800-4660 to speak with a member of our legal team.
