Las Vegas Aircraft Collision Kills 4
Have you ever considered how air traffic gets directed? The thought may have never crossed your mind, but there’s a lot of directing that takes place at airports to ensure that planes do not get in the path of other airplanes. Unfortunately, not everything always goes smoothly.
In late July, four individuals perished after two small aircraft collided with one another at the North Las Vegas Airport. According to reports from the Federal Aviation Administration, a single-engine Piper PA-46 and a single-engine Cessna 172 were both preparing to land when the two airplanes directly struck each other.
Upon colliding, the two airplanes crashed in two directions. The Piper landed in a field off the runway, while the Cessna hit a water retention pond. The FAA confirmed that each plane was carrying two individuals, making a total of four fatalities. The Cessna is registered to Binner Enterprises, while the Piper is registered to Gold Aero Aviation.
Wrongful Death: Who is Responsible for the Plane Crash?
The tragic plane crash described above is a rare type of event. Usually, when an aircraft prepares to land at an airport, they’re required to communicate with air traffic control agents at the airport they’re landing at. These agents direct various aircraft on when and how to land to ensure that these types of crashes do not happen.
Right now, an investigation is still underway. It remains unclear what caused this crash and whether or not the air traffic control officers played a role in the collision or not.
In this type of situation, multiple parties might have contributed to the crash. The crash could’ve been due to an error from air traffic control, a pilot, a faulty aircraft part, or something else. The cause of the plane crash will determine who will get held financially liable for the fallout of the accident.
