Injury Crash Reported June 9th in East Valley
One person was injured early Tuesday, June 9th in southeastern Las Vegas Valley, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The car accident occurred just before 6 AM and involved three vehicles at the intersection of East Russell Road and Eastern Avenue. Further details about the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
Causes of Las Vegas Car Accidents
We do not know what happened in this June 8th intersection accident, so it is impossible to know what happened. Driver distraction and inattention is a major cause of many intersection accidents. Distraction is most often from cell phones but can also be from children, pets, and car radios. Sudden lane changes at intersections can sometimes cause a crash, when a driver is trying to quickly change directions and fails to notice an oncoming vehicle.
Can You Sue Following a Las Vegas Car Accident?
If you are injured in a car accident caused by someone else’s fault, you can file a lawsuit. Because Nevada is a “fault” state, each driver can sue or be sued for personal injuries and property damage. Nevada law requires drivers to carry insurance for personal bodily injury or death.
If a driver failed to act responsibly and their negligent actions behind the wheel caused the collision and your resulting injuries, they may be liable. Compensation to you may include your medical care costs related to the accident, including ambulance transportation, hospitalization, rehabilitative care, physical therapy, and future treatments and surgeries.
If you are unable to work, you may be entitled to compensation for lost earnings, or loss of earning capacity, if your injuries prevent you from working higher compensation jobs. Finally, you may be entitled to compensation for your physical pain and emotional suffering.
Negotiating a Personal Injury Settlement
The vast majority of car accident lawsuits settle out of court and do not require a trial. Although it is possible to receive compensation without a lawyer, it is likely you’ll be leaving a lot of money on the table. Insurance companies strive to protect their own interests, and protect their profits.
Some insurance claims adjusters are incentivized with rewards when they pay out low dollar claims. Companies prefer not to pay out insurance policy limits whenever possible, and without a lawyer, it will likely be impossible to negotiate maximum compensation on your own. Despite how friendly or caring an adjustor may seem, remember that they are looking out for the company’s interests.
